A QRE PSA – Are You Registered To Vote?

by Garv on September 30, 2012

Here at the QRE offices, we discuss plenty of odd things. The mating habits of grey aliens versus those of green aliens, the hygiene of certain members of the Charlie Daniels Band, what was meant by a line in a cartoon that we’re not entirely sure we actually saw… Things like that. But there’s one thing we’ve been talking about a lot recently, and that’s because it’s very serious. It’s about the upcoming election, and whether or not we’re registered to vote. Do you know if you are?

The QRE offices are located in Virginia, and here in ol’ Virginny, Monday, October 15, 2012 is the deadline to register to vote or update your address for the November 6, 2012 General Election.

We won’t tell you who to vote for – that’s your business. But we will tell you that if you don’t vote, you can’t complain. So here are some steps to make sure you have the right to complain for the next four years!

1) If you’re not sure if your voter registration is up-to-date, you can check here: Click here to make sure you’re registered, and if not, to get registered

 2) Make sure your polling location is in the same place – some have changed for this year: Click here to check your polling location

3) Make sure you know what you’ll need to take with you on election day. All Virginia voters are required to show some form of identification when they go to the polls to vote. There’s a list of acceptable forms of ID here at the State Board of Elections website.

All of this information and more, including what’s on the ballot and what to do if you won’t be able to physically vote on November 6th, can be found on the Virginia State Board of Elections website. If you don’t live in Virginia and would like help making sure you’re registered and good-to-go in your state, let us know and we’ll be more than happy to give you a hand.

So go make sure you’re registered. I mean, if a bunch of crazy people can do it you should have no problem. Good luck, and we’ll see you at the polls on November 6th!
