Congratulations to the University of Alabama Crimson Tide for being the 2013 BCS National Champions. The SEC didn’t do as great in bowl games this year as they have in the recent past, but they did pull out the big one. This is the fourth title for coach Nick Saban, three with Alabama and one with LSU. This makes him 154-55-1 as a head coach, and that’s pretty impressive. I’m not sure he’s ever had a losing season, from Toldeo to Michigan State to where he is now. Maybe if you count that year in ‘Bama where they vacated 5 wins, but they didn’t really lose the games. Next year will be interesting, with A.J. McCarron, T.J. Yeldon and Cyrus Kouandjio coming back, but don’t put them in the title game just yet. Next year we will also see South Carolina’s amazing defense return (for the most part) and we’ll also have Urban Meyer at Ohio State, and unlike this year, they will be eligible to compete in the post-season. This should be interesting, I can hardly wait until next season!

The NFL had some surprises, as we saw Washington, Indianapolis, Cincinatti and Minnesota all end their season this past weekend. Adrian Peterson couldn’t pull off two wins against the Packers in two weeks, as the Packers got all over the Vikings, 24-10. The Houston Texans pulled it out against the Bengals, 19-13, but the other two games are the biggest stories. Ray Lewis had his final game ever in Baltimore, as they beat Andrew Luck and the Colts 24-9. The Seahawks handled the Redskins 24-14, but the condition of the field was absolutely abhorrent for an NFL playoff game. The Seahawks have filed a suit against the NFL for the condition of the field, and it also contributed to RG3 tearing up his knee. He is undergoing total knee reconstruction now and is hoping to be back in 6-8 months. Yikes, Redskins fans! We will see this coming weekend who goes home and who goes on!
